My name is Courtney and I am a wife, mother of 2 young daughters, and teacher.  In July of 2011 our family of four plus our loveable, brave Goldendoodle (who travelled 25 hours in the belly of a plane to make the move with us!) moved from the US to the Philippines to teach at an international school.  The idea was born from a conversation from some women teaching at the American Embassy School in India who were students in my grad class that I was teaching through our previous school’s outreach program.  They talked about the need for teachers with special education background in international schools.  I came home that day and talked it over with my husband, also a teacher, and it felt that the timing was right; our kids were young enough to adapt to the change, we were ready for a change in jobs, and the excitement of it all got the ball rolling.  So here we are, enjoying and learning from the adventure, travels, and challenges of living outside of our home/passport country.  There is always something new to explore and think about.  This blog is about our family’s experience living and working in the Philippines, full of everyday routines, wonderings, new cultural experiences, and travels.
